My Christmas Eve Wish
My Christmas Eve Wish
On Christmas Eve I'm thinking about the children without any parents that are in Foster care.My mom always tells me that one day that we will adopt a brother or sister.I would want to adopt two brothers and two sisters into our family that is my age or younger.I also think about the teenagers that never get adopted and never have a mother or dad and they don't have any family when they get older.
Where do they go?
My mom told me me some end up homeless.
So today on Christmas Eve my wish is for them to have a family.

Volunteer on food value club day

I went to ST. Vincent DE Paul again to volunteer on food value club day that's when people pay a small amount of money for a big box of groceries and meat.
My job today was to fill up boxes with yogurt and a big can of Tuna and a large can of chicken.
After I was done filing all the boxes I went to fill bags of fruit and vegetables. They let the cars come in in the gate four in line at a time to get their food and drinks.
Tomorrow is commodities day that is the day that they get free food and drinks.
We will be back tomorrow to report our day.

The History of gingerbread
Here are my Gingerbread houses I made with cookies and candies .

The History of Gingerbread
http://wwwiz. com/issue04/ wiz_d04.html
This website offers the history of gingerbread from the Middle Ages to
modern times - with a nod to the Brothers Grimm and "Hansel & Gretel." It
also explains the history of ginger root, the herb used to make ginger for
use in gingerbread. The text at this site provides basic historical
information and contains links for further study. You will also find some recipes using ginger at this site.

10 Famous Homeschooled People
10 Famous Homeschooled People
by Stacy Conrad
1. Agatha Christie. Agatha was a painfully shy girl, so her mom homeschooled her even though her two older siblings attended private school.
2. Pearl S. Buck was born in West Virginia, but her family moved to China when she was just three months old. She was homeschooled by a Confucian scholar and learned English as a second language from her mom.
3. Alexander Graham Bell was homeschooled by his mother until he was about 10. It was at this point that she started to go deaf and didn’t feel she could properly educate him any more. Her deafness inspired Bell to study acoustics and sound later in life.
4. If Thomas Edison was around today, he would probably be diagnosed with ADD – he left public school after only three months because his mind wouldn’t stop wandering. His mom homeschooled him after that, and he credited her with the success of his education: “My mother was the making of me. She was so true, so sure of me; and I felt I had something to live for, someone I must not disappoint.”
5. Ansel Adams was homeschooled at the age of 12 after his “wild laughter and undisguised contempt for the inept ramblings of his teachers” disrupted the classroom. His father took on his education from that point forward.
6. Robert Frost hated school so much he would get physically ill at the thought of going. He was homeschooled until his high school years.
7. Woodrow Wilson studied under his dad, one of the founders of the Southern Presbyterian Church in the United States (PCUS). He didn’t learn to read until he was about 12. He took a few classes at a school in Augusta, Georgia, to supplement his father’s teachings, and ended up spending a year at Davidson College before transferring to Princeton.
8. Mozart was educated by his dad as the Mozart family toured Europe from 1763-1766.
9. Laura Ingalls Wilder was homeschooled until her parents finally settled in De Smet in what was then Dakota Territory. She started teaching school herself when she was only 15 years old.
10. Louisa May Alcott studied mostly with her dad, but had a few lessons from family friends Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Nathaniel Hawthorne. Can you imagine?

A song by the late Harry Chapin.
Poem about Creativity Destroyed by Teacher
-
A thought-provoking poem about a young child in
school who's natural curiosity is constantly thwarted by the teacher's
instructions to "do it this way" etc. The poem is progressive, and by
the end, the child has lost all creativity, so that when under a more
free teacher who encourages the children to do their art however they
want, the child no longer has any confidence in their own choices and
keeps asking, "But what colour should I do it?" etc.
It's a song by the late Harry Chapin.
Flowers are Red
The little boy went first day of school
He got some crayons and started to draw
He put colors all over the paper
For colors was what he saw
And the teacher said.. What you doin' young man
I'm paintin' flowers he said
She said... It's not the time for art young man
And anyway flowers are green and red
There's a time for everything young man
And a way it should be done
You've got to show concern for everyone else
For you're not the only one
And she said...
Flowers are red young man
Green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than they way they always have been seen
But the little boy20said...
There are so many colors in the rainbow
So many colors in the morning sun
So many colors in the flower and I see every one
Well the teacher said.. You're sassy
There's ways that things should be
And you'll paint flowers the way they are
So repeat after me.....
And she said...
Flowers are red young man
Green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than they way they always have been seen
But the little boy said...
There are so many colors in the rainbow
So many colors in the morning sun
So many colors in the flower and I see every one
The teacher put him in a corner
She said.. It's for your own good..
And you won't come out 'til you get it right
And are responding like you should
Well finally he got lonely
Frightened thoughts filled his head
And he went up to the teacher
And this is what he said.. and he said
Flowers are red, green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than the way they always have been seen
Time went by like it always does
And they moved to another town
And the little boy went to another school
And this is what he found
The teacher there was smilin'
She said...Painting should be fun
And there are so many colors in a flower
So let's use every one
But that little boy painted flowers
In neat rows of green and red
And when the teacher asked him why
This is what he said.. and he said
Flowers are red, green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other=2

ST Vincent DE Paul

I worked hard today.I volunteer at ST Vincent DE Paul. I help fill boxes with rice, beans, can goods ,cookies and bread..
When the boxes were all packed up and ready to be pick up we had a break to eat. I ate a hot dog with Chile it was yummy.
Now after the break I went back to count boxes in the back and then they called for a meeting. The meeting was about not to steal from a non-profit because it's a federal offense. Then we all got in our positions, mine was was to give out laundry detergent.
It was raining very hard but it didn't stop us from giving the boxes and laundry detergent out to the people. When the last car came I gave my last laundry detergent and my mom gave her last box to them and we went home.I was really glad to help people today.

GEORGE (2000) directed by Corra and Grahame Weinbren is described by Amy Taubin in The Village Voice as “an exceptionally intelligent and moving documentary that explores Corra’s twelve year old autistic son George, who uses his own video camera to make a movie within the movie. In fact, the film is about how we define normalcy.” GEORGE had its American theatrical premiere at The Screening Room, New York City and was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., The Gaga Film Festival, Berlin, Germany and aired on HBO in July 2000.

tourettesyndrome
http://http//www.tourettesyndrome.net
Tourette's Syndrome (also known as Tourette's Disorder) is a fairly common childhood-onset condition that may be associated with features of many other conditions. Thus, what started as a site for parents and educators on Tourette's Syndrome expanded to include other conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, non-OCD anxiety disorders, Executive Dysfunction, depression, Bipolar Disorder, autism spectrum disorders including Asperger's Disorder, 'rage attacks,' sensory integration issues, and sleep disorders. For every condition section of the site, you'll also find articles and files relating to school-related issues in the Education section of the site. And don't miss the general Behavior section, where you'll find topics of concerns to parents and teachers of children with these childhood-onset conditions or disorders.

RV HOMESCHOOLING FAMILY ON TV
Subject: RV Homeschooling Family on TV
This was passed along to our homeschool group so I wanted to share it
with all I can:
This is lengthy so I will highlight:
October 29th - Today Show
October 29th - Six For the Road (TLC after Jon and Kate plus EIGHT)
November 5th - Six For the Road
Hi I was wondering if you could pass this information along to your
group.
Hi my name is Kati Loud. My family and I are homeschoolers. We RV
full time and we have a show airing on TLC called Six For The Road.
It is about our life and journey. One year ago we gave away and sold
everything we own and bought a fifth wheel and hit the road. We
realized that we became caught up in life and became so busy with
daily routines that we needed to take back our life. So we did what
we have always dreamed of. We decided to leave it all behind and we
have never looked back.
We love roadschooling! We have enjoyed learning so much while we are
on the road. We have been able to learn hands on in the most able
places. We have been from Williamsburg to the Toilet Seat Museum. We
have been to NYC and experienced the big city and we have been to a
small town in Tennessee to help tornado victims try to put their life
back together. We have done this as a family and we have loved it.
It is hard to go from 3500 square feet to 300 square feet. We have
four kids. Two girls 15 and 13 and two boys 12 and 10. We also have 3
dogs and a little hamster. Life in an RV can get really crowded and
hectic but it is fun. The first 2 episodes air on October 29
Eastern. Mountain and Pacific time zones are at 10:00pm and Central
is at 9:00pm. Our next two episodes air on November 5th. Same times.
Each night they will show 2 episode in a row. Please watch and help
us show how many homeschoolers may be interested in a show like this.
We are on right after Jon and Kate plus Eight. Our production company
also does their show.
Please pass this info along to anyone that you think may be
interested. If you would like TiVo the show and even turn all your
TVs on to help our numbers :-) We also re- air that night at 1:00am
if you want to TiVo that also :-)
We have a website at www.ourloudfamily.com We are having our site
re built and it will be 100% in a week or so. We have a great forum
for homeschooling info, travel ideas, etc. We have our blogs that are
stories and pictures of our journeys. We do have a contest right
now . We our looking for people to help us design 3 new bumper
stickers. There is a $100.oo first prize for each one. Here is the
link for the dimensions etc
http://ourloudfamily.com/blog/view/id_75/title_loud-family-bumper-
sticker-contest-win-big-money/
If you go to our site you can sign up as a member. By doing this you
can get Homeschool deals, travel deals and updates. We also have a
MySpace type program for families. This is a safe MySpace type page
program without a lot of junk added. Just go and design a page. We
have around 200 homeschool members right now. This has been a fun way
to meet other moms and to see pics of each others' families and learn
about their styles and making new friends.
We will also be on the TODAY show October 29th during the 9:00 am
hour. They may have a glimpse of the show for you to see. If and if
you enjoyed the show and you would like to let the network or our
producers know go to our website after the show and we will have
contact info for you.
We would love to have you pass the word to all that you can.
Happy trails to you and hope to meet some of you soon our travels.
